Search giant Google has listed Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash on their Currency Converter. The engine also automatically displays a Google Finance widget for requests “Bitcoin,” “Litecoin” and “Bitcoin Cash,” that allows for the easy conversion between the cryptocurrencies and a fiat currency of choice.
In order to receive the conversion widget for Ethereum, users will need to enter search request “currency conversion” and then select Ether in a pull-down menu. Google did not provided an explanation for why the additional step is required for Ethereum and not the others altcoins. By default, the rates are displayed relative to the local fiat currencies.
The listing of the popular altcoins to the Google Search conversion widget is an important step forward for adoption of cryptocurrencies.
As a reminder, Google added a Bitcoin price tracker on their Finance widget in June 2014. Apart from dynamic pricing across several currencies, the Bitcoin price tracker offers access to breaking news about cryptocurrencies.
