Starbucks Coffee retailer has partnered with Bakkt bitcoin platform to provide customers the option to pay with the crypto. The Bakkt platform will automatically convert Bitcoins to US dollars at the moment of payment.
According to the CEO of Bakkt, Kelly Loeffler, at Consensus Invest the exchange is moving on with the Starbucks partnership “to be able to give their customers more options in their ability to pay…to be able to pay with bitcoin.” Kelly Loeffler is also the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE).
Bitcoin accepted coffee stores would be a huge boon for the crypto market, as thousands of people buy coffee from Starbucks. And it seems a win-win scenario since Starbucks would be able to attract crypto users.
Kelly Loeffler also indicated that Bakkt is on the ‘phase two’ of its roadmap which includes the participation of Starbucks and Microsoft.
As a reminder, earlier this year, it was reported about Starbucks’ partnership with Microsoft, New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), as well as the Intercontinental Exchange Corporation (ICE) — the owner of Bakkt. It was also reported that this cooperation will allow Starbucks’ customers to pay for coffee with bitcoins.
