Swiss-based cybersecurity and IoT company WISeKey International Holding, has announced the release of its debut blockchain smartphone, Wisephone.
The new phone supports blockchain payment, web verification with electronic ID, end-to-end encryption, and many more. The standard type Wisephone will hit the stores on December 15and will cost $556 or 0.12 Bitcoins.
“Wisephone phone is an Android phone like any other with exactly the same functions. The phone features additional protection with some areas shielded from the Android-specific security issues. This feature will allow users to safely store cryptocurrencies or other crypto assets secure. The phone has capabilities for securing email and voice communication as well,” Carlos Moreira, WISeKey CEO, said.
WISeKey has also announced the release of another premium device called Block which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019. WISePhone Block will be equipped with faster processing chip and an integrated crypto-wallet.
The phone wallet will only be activated after the Swiss financial regulator FINMA gives a go ahead. The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) has to license Wisecoin, WISeKey ’s crypto platform before the company can proceed with any crypto related endeavors.
