Google has blacklisted “Ethereum” keyword on its Google Ads platform — the keyword is no longer available on the platform. Serbia-based blockchain startup Decenter has told in its tweet about the prejudiced and negative attitude of the Internet giant: ‘We are seeing a hard stop on Google Ads containing “Ethereum” as the keyword in the last two days. Is anyone else noticing the same change?’
“Advertisers may promote cryptocurrency exchanges that target the United States and Japan. Hence, you may not be able to run ads which target other countries. Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any additional questions.”
This is not the first time the search engine giant is banning crypto-related ads. Early last year, it banned all Bitcoin and crypto-related adverts on its platform. The crypto ad ban was explained by the protection of users from fraudulent offerings in the new sphere.
However, in September 2018, Google lifted advertising ban on its platform for some crypto businesses. The Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) remained banned to this day — only regulated exchanges are permitted to purchase Google ad spaces.
