Tech startup Timekettle has presented its ear-to-ear wearable translator WT2 Plus earbuds at the CES 2019, the annual consumer electronics show.
WT2 is a real-time, wearable translator that includes 2 earphones, 1 app, and a customized charging case. Conversations between different languages are enabled by two earphone translators and one app. Each person wears one earphone — you speak in your language, they hear in theirs.
Both users can talk and listen to each other, when each of them puts on one earphone from the kit. While one of them speaks, the headset transmits the words to the smartphone, where the app translates and then transmits them to the other person’s earpiece. The same process goes in the opposite direction.
Currently, the translator supports 20 languages, including Mandarin Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish. Moreover, the app recognizes various accents. For example, it supports up to five regional accents of English, including Australian English.
