Technology giant Bosch and the largest Austrian energy supplier Wien Energie are developing a blockchain-powered refrigerator.
A cutting-edge fridge allows tracing each kilowatt to its origin. The users also can choose the source of energy, whether it is a solar panel or a wind power plant. The project aims to increase consumer interest in rational energy consumption.
The new Bosch fridge is fully controlled via smartphone. The user can control the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer, check whether the door is properly closed, monitor CO2 emissions and energy consumption.
The model testing is scheduled for the coming months, after which the blockchain fridge will go on sale.
