Apple will introduce its cryptographic developer tools at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2019 during a session scheduled for June 5. The new tool dubbed “CryptoKit ” will debut within “Cryptography and your Apps” section as an iOS 13 update.
“CryptoKit is a new Swift framework that makes it easier and safer than ever to perform cryptographic operations, whether you simply need to compute a hash or are implementing a more advanced authentication protocol,” the event description reads.
The new tool marks the first big step of Apple towards the crypto industry. Last month cryptocurrency wallet Spend integrated Apple Pay functionality, allowing users to fund contactless mobile payments with any one of around 20 cryptocurrencies.
In 2018, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak joined the team of investment-focused crypto startup Equi Capital, which aims to help both retail and professional investors purchase equity in companies in an effort to replace traditional investing firms.
