Over 25,000 sales points for 30 French retailers, including including Boulanger, Foot Locker, Decathlon, Conforama, Maison du Monde, Intersport, Cultura, Norauto and Sephora, will start accepting bitcoin next year, according to a press release published by Le Figaro.
“Initially, the service will allow only bitcoin acceptance, but, in the future, we plan to add other cryptocurrencies,” Stefan Gian, CEO of Global POS, said.
According to Le Figaro, information about the launch of the project was disclosed during Paris Retail Week, and a number of partner companies confirmed their participation. The article also refers to several polls conducted in 2017-2018, according to which from 3 to 6 percent of the French can own cryptocurrency.
In addition, the implementation of this plan was made possible thanks to the law adopted last year by the French authorities, which is largely positive for the cryptocurrency industry.
