Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had a diner with President Trump and First Lady at the White House last month, during the period when Facebook’s CEO was testifying to Congress on Libra coin.
“Mark accepted an invitation to have dinner with the President at the White House, as is normal for a CEO of a major U.S. company,” a Facebook representative commented.
PayPal co-founder and Facebook board member Peter Thiel has also joined the diner.
Trump and Zuckerberg’s conversation was a general one and covered a range of subjects, like matters pertaining to privacy and censorship on social media.
It’s only known, Trump has a private meeting with Zuckerberg, theme of the meeting remains undisclosed. Treading into the realm of speculation here, one could be forgiven for presuming the dinner included at least one passing reference to cryptocurrency — especially since during that week the Facebook CEO was in the Capitol explicitly to testify on the Libra.
As previously reported, back in July, Donald Trump has criticized Bitcoin, Facebook’s Libra and other cryptocurrencies. Te president stressed if Facebook and other companies want to become a bank, they must seek a new Banking Charter and become subject to all Banking Regulations, just like other Banks, both National and International.
