Italian Series A soccer club ACF Fiorentina has partnered with blockchain firm Genuino to certify the club’s official jerseys using blockchain technology.
The solution allows to prevent people from falsely claiming that a pro player wore a jersey by authenticating the item. It can be made by kitting a dedicated chip to the player jerseys which will be linked to the blockchain.
“Genuino’s solution will allow tracing of the jersey’s life key moments, creating a digital copy of the physical jersey, to allow us certify and authenticate the same, but also to help us fight counterfeiting,” Giuseppe Barone, General Manager, ACF Fiorentina said.
Several other European football clubs are trialling blockchain collectibles such as Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, those are for digital collectibles.
