Most crypto holders store the majority of their Bitcoin in hardware wallets and keep a backup of the private keys on a sheet of paper, according to recent survey posted to Reddit.
The results of survey was posted by Reddit user gunnaj on April 30 as a part of his PhD thesis. The doctoral student asked 339 people five questions related to Bitcoin (BTC) security.
When participants were asked where they stored the majority of their BTC, nearly half — 158 people — said they used a hardware wallet such as those offered by Ledger, TREZOR, and BitLox.
At the same time, 17% of respondents said that they store the majority of BTC in wallet applications on mobile devices, and 15% in desktop wallets.
Responding to a question on how they store their private keys, 88% of respondents said they have backup copies of keys, and 72% said they kept a paper backup. 20% of respondents store a copy of the backup keys on an external drive.
