Ross Ulbricht supporters have hired a billboard in New York’s Times Square demanding the release of the Silk Road founder. The billboard will display the message for several months, according to the Twitter account’ Clemency for Ross.’
Ulbricht is currently facing a double life sentence, and without clemency, he will never be released.
Ross Ulbricht was arrested in 2015 on charges of money laundering, conspiracy, drug and hacking-related charges. He was sentenced to double life sentences without parole, plus another 40 years. His family opened a Twitter account for him in June, and they’ve been posting his tweets ever since.
Ross was not the only one prosecuted for being involved in Silk Road. However, none of the other defendants received sentences above ten years, including those behind Silk Road 2.0, an even larger replica. Some of them are already free today.
