The total number of Bitcoin ATMs has passed to 10,000 worldwide, increasing by 87% per cent this year, to data from cryptocurrency analytics firm AksjeBloggen. This reflects an increase in cryptocurrency adoption amid the ongoing pandemic.
In total, nearly 3,900 new bitcoin ATMs were installed by operators all across the world from September 2019. Сurrently 10,014 ATMs in 71 countries allowing users to buy and sell the leading cryptocurrency bitcoin and altcoins for cash.
The U.S. is the dominant country with over 7,800 bitcoin ATMs.
Canada comes in second with 869 machines. Depending on the machine, crypto holders can purchase and withdraw major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin Cash, Ether, Dash, Litecoin, Zcash, Monero, Dogecoin, Tether, and XRP.
As previously reported, lack of security standards makes Bitcoin ATMs easy to hack, according to the security researchers at Trend Micro.
