NFL spokesperson denied the information according to which Panthers’ Russell Okung was paid in bitcoin and the player finally fulfilled his desire to get paid in cryptocurrency.
“That’s not quite true, the player are converting some of the money into bitcoin after he gets paid in US dollars, just like every other NFL player,” an NFL spokesperson told.
Carolina Panthers also confirmed that the players is beeng paid in US dollars. So, anyone can get their salary “paid in bitcoin” by converting USD in the cryptocurrency.
Okung received bitcoin through a third-party payment service called Strike from Zap Solutions Inc. According to the Coindesk report, Okung spend 50 percent of his $13 million salary to bitcoin.
